Abstract:   (17 Views)
The land of Fars, as the heart of the Achaemenid world, has fertile soil and numerous water resources, and of course, fertile agricultural lands, which have caused this land to be considered since prehistoric times, and numerous and diverse settlements to form in it in different periods. Among them, the Murghab Plain and the Marvdasht Plain are of particular importance as the areas where two important Achaemenid government centers, namely the sites of Pasargadae and Persepolis, were formed. The existence of water resources and hydraulic infrastructures in these areas has made the issue of water management in these plains of great importance. The study of water resources of the Achaemenid period and, of course, the associated water structures and their hydraulic infrastructures is one of the research topics that has been less addressed in previous research. During the recent archaeological research in the Murghab Plain and around the Pasargadae site and in the Marvdasht Plain and the Persepolis region, new knowledge has been obtained about water resources, hydraulic infrastructures, and water management in these areas, which is discussed in this article.
